a moment in history

Cathy & Kristopher in Election Plaza at Rockefeller Center (I know - we look alike!)

I (Kristopher) had originally planned to stay inside my apartment Tuesday night. Newport and I together on the sofa watching the election returns together, excited about the possibilities ahead of us.

Cathy & Scott invited me over to eat dinner (Scott cooked an amazing stew!) and watch the returns. I agreed, however was quite certain I'd head home after that. Cathy has a way of convincing me otherwise and dragged me out to Times Square. Once there I could feel the energy. I was immediately charged and knew I'd be out until the election was over. It was quick amazing (for McCain and Obama supporters) to be out on the streets. The sidewalks we so full we were in the street. People were just stopping and looking up at all the jumbo screens. It felt like New Years Eve. From there we headed to Rockefeller Center planning to stick around for just a few mins (which turned into hours).

You would think it was Dec 3 and we were counting down for the lighting of the Christmas Tree. Thousands of people stood around Rockefeller Center. The lights in the trees twinkling. All the flags lit up. The buildings all soaked with red, white and blue lights. Words really cannot describe the feeling to be part of this.

It's times like this I feel lucky to have the opportunity to live in New York City.

Thanks Cathy for the photos. Didn't think I'd end up in the middle of all this otherwise I would have had my own. :)
