Provincetown - Day 5

Here we are on Day 5 (day 2 of antibiotics) and I am feeling better. The weather has been so so - sun coming in and out. Based on weather forecast we thought it would be best to go whale watching today (not everyone in the house went). We all did our own thing in the morning - Ed went buying - and then we met everyone for lunch at Burger Queen before heading to the boat.

Look - the burger queen himself..

Condiments anyone?

Distracted.

The Whale Watching Crew - minus me.

Hi Rob!

My 'Alan & Rob on the Pier' series... double click the first image - take a good look at the woman. Priceless. My overall favorite of these three is the middle one.

Heading out to sea.

The boys out whale watching.

The whale watching tour garauntees that you will see some whales. The trip is planned for three hours and after about 2 we had not seen a whale. You could tell the captain and crew were getting a bit nervous. We didn't have the weather on our side. About 20 minutes out of the harbor we could see a thick fog in front of us. Shortly thereafter we were consumed by the fog with little visibility. So this made it difficult for the crew to spot the whales. The captain was scanning the surface with his sonar machine and coming up empty handed. He'd heard there was a school of whales but couldn't find them.

So again it's just after 2 hours and we hear "12 o'clock!". Sure enough in front of the boat is a humpback whale. The boat shifts to nuetral and now we are floating. Turns out we are right in the center of the school of humpback whales - which according to the crew is unusual as they are fairly solitary creatures. Here are some of the photos I was able to capture through the fog.

In all we saw 7 whales so I guess it was worth the trip into the fog. On the way back took a couple of photos...

After Whaling we went home to relax and then a small group of us had dinner while others went out. After dinner we went to a Karaoke Bar where Rob tore it up with two numbers. Around 11:30 we headed over to A-House where Ed and I stayed about 30 mins and then decided to go to bed.
