Headed to Provincetown - Day 1

After a few years of friends trying to convince us to go to Provincetown (PTown) we decided to go. Given that we didn't need a car while there a few of us decided we would take the bus to Boston and ferry across Cape Cod Bay. What we thought would be an uneventful trip turned out to be everything but.

Did the bus driver just say the fan belt is broken and that we had to wait here until they could figure it out?

Abdandon ship. The air had been turned off so some decided to wait outside (Ed's backside pictured above).

Here's Ed and Paul trying to figure out the best place to put our beach chairs and tan - why waste time?

Turns out we are in Waterbury, CT.

You call Avis. I will call Hertz.

Now more people are unloading onto the side of the highway. Ed is in the distance most likely on hold or pressing "0#0#0000##00#00" - the best way to get to an operator.

For some reason every car rental place in CT closed at 1:00pm on Saturday! Not sure Ed or any of us for that matter were ready to give up.

Our Knight in Shining Armor!

If memory serves me right, here's Paul trying to convince someone at Hertz to come pick us up from the Hartford airport. Nice try.

About a little more than an hour into this debacle a "Bolt" of luck strikes us! Another bus headed to Boston was passing us, stopped on the highway and backed up. The driver stated he could take 28 people - only those with carry-ons. We pleaded with the driver to let us on to his bus with our bags and he wasn't having it. He decided to board our bus for some reason so we decided we would take matters into our own hands.

We tore open the baggage hatch and pulled our bags out. Headed down the highway to the Bolt Bus and tossed our bags in and boarded the bus. The driver had no clue - we were set to go. My camera was packed and I was not digging so photos until our next stop.

PS - next time you head to Boston on a bus take "Bolt". They have electricity and internet!

Bolt did get us to the ferry on time. Drained, but on time.

Random photos while on the Ferry.

I think by this point we'd had enough - not sure if it was the tiresome day or Ed's nonstop talking. One is drunk - the other is knocked out.

We made it to PTown and it was time to start having fun...

What you don't get (because we didn't have the camera) are photos of Kristopher going wild and dancing on the go-go box for an hour and a half. We all had fun dancing till 1:00am and then headed to Spirtitus for Pizza! Along with the rest of PTown. The line was easily over a hundred people long and the streets full with people.

Goodnight.
